Cats 2
Cats 2 is part of Rosa's Victorian Collection which is a collection of printed ephemera (items meant to last only a short time). Beginning in the mid 1800's until World War 1, the sending of cards for special occasions spread from the upper social classes to all, as the techniques of printing became cheaper and more advanced with multi printing, diecutting and embossing. The cards shown here are reproductions of a card printed in Germany at the turn of the 20th century.

Tall Case Clock Note Cards

The image on this set of Note Cards is a detail from the clock face of an English Tall Clock case made by Joseph Neighbour in the 1700's. The dial, close to a foot across is of bronze. It is "powered" by pendulum and weights and strikes on the hour and half hours. These antique clocks are collector's items with most being found in museums across the country. This one is in the Mystic Seaport Museum.

The firm, The House of Peter Carl Faberge in St Peterburg, Russia was known for wonderful items of jewelry but also exquisite items for the desk and home. It boasted a royal clientele list, especially the Czars Alexander 111 and later, Nicholas 11.
The workshops of skilled craftsmen were employed to make what is now considered the Faberge claim to fame, the EGGS.
Based upon the custom and style of decorating Easter Eggs, his company used precious metals and gemstones rather than the more usual materials.

Black and White Photographs of Baruna and Magic Carpet
Shown on the left of the set is Magic Carpet and the right image is of Baruna. This and the second set of note cards shown below, entitled New York Yacht Club Cruise and New York Fireboat Firefighter were published for Mystic Seaport Museum. These images are part of their near million piece Rosenfeld Collection. The collection is one of the largest archives of Maritime photography. Much of the works are by Morris Rosenfeld and his sons David and Stanley, over a period from 1910 until the late 1970's
